Story of Christmas Carols

With the approaching holiday season, those of the Christian belief appreciate hearing Christmas carols, also called Christmas songs but also known as "Noels".

However, what do we actually know about Christmas carols other than that carolers (or wassailers) wander immediate area during the end of year holiday season, singing these songs those of the Christian faith are attracted to?

In reality, nobody knows where Christmas carols originate. Specialists believe that Noels - or Christmas carols - originate from the thirteenth century and have continuously been favorite since then.Though, carolers have also been called "wassailers" as they were singing in exchange with a bowl of wassail... a hot beverage specifically made on Christmas time.

Christmas carols have not been continually reserved for Christmas time and were sang in many other situations in Christian communities.

Here are a few of the most traditional Christmas carols:

  • Silent Night, Holy Night
  • The Messiah
  • Jingle Bells
  • Here We Come A-Wassailing
  • The First Noel
  • The 12 Days of Christmas

and many different ones.
